Jewelry Making Professor – X-cart Migration & Customization

The Jewelry Making Professor (JMP) project was so massive we have to break it up into to separate projects. The first project dealt with the structures and architecture of the website.

JMP uses X-cart for e-commerce. When we started the project, the X-cart version was 4.2.1. We needed to migrate all of the data and data structures into the newest version of X-cart, 4.4.3.

All of X-cart’s data also needed to be up to date at the time of the production move up, so we needed to document how to execute the conversion during the production move up. The results were pages upon pages of SQL queries and data structure manipulation.

After the X-cart 4.2.1 structure and data was formatted for 4.4.3, we made the connections to the application. Now it was time to add our database tables for our custom Video of the Week / Featured Product application. These tables were added and our custom PHP code deployed and we extended the functionality of X-cart to include management for the Video of the Week and the Featured Product.

Once we were ready for production deployment, the move took over 7 hours and resulted in about 15 hours of total bug fixes. However we regarded the production move as highly successful as we were able to launch JMP 2.0 on day 1 and not look back.

CrossFit Rehoboth (CFR)

CrossFit Rehoboth was an interesting project. The project encompassed several different elements: website design / development, graphic design, logo design, content management system (WordPress), and custom web application development.

The website was built in several rolling phases. The client needed a website built immediately with the idea that it would grow as we progressed. So we picked WordPress to manage the content and so the client could blog. We bought the domain and launched the site 1 week prior to CFR opening to the public! So the site was setup in WordPress and let the client add all of the content. As the site took shape, we applied certain styles to the content and organized it.

Geoff Matheson was hired to build a brand and logo for CrossFit Rehoboth. He developed a great logo which was implemented within the website.

Over the course of the project lots of additional functionality was added to the CFR site, which in turn attracted lots and lots of visitors!! Currently the site gets an average of about 100 visitors a day and is growing each month. Go over and check it out yourself!

Rehoboth Beach Bodywork

We recently completed the redesign of the Rehoboth Beach Bodywork website with emphasis on graphic design, new styles and a new logotype. This project was done on a limited budget, so we cut any corners we could like using stock photography in most places to keep the costs down. In the end we were able to deliver a top notch website + new logotype for around $1k!!!!

Rehoboth Beach Bodywork needed their content moved into a CMS so we chose WordPress for its ease of use and shorter learning curve for the user. Additionally we custom wrote a couple of web applications to handle the specific types of content, including massage types. We also did analysis of keyword density per page, and came up with improvements to the existing content. We also implemented some other Search Engine Optimization tricks within the site to increase traffic.

The project turned out to be very successful for both the client and us.

Atonement Church

United Methodist Church of the Atonement is located in Claymont Delaware. UMC of the Atonement hired us to completely design a new website for them. After extensive research and analysis of the client’s needs and goals we proposed and created a project plan. Interactivity and Web 2.0 functionality was a top priority. The goal of the site was to create an online interactive social community based website where visitors could go and interact.

EJ Host and Geoff Matheson Studio teamed up to produce an alluring design teamed with incredible depth and breadth of content. We developed the site using a WordPress platform, custom WordPress theme, many WordPress plugins, custom applications, scripts, database tables and SQL queries.

Serving the Delaware Philadelphia (Philly) area

We are located in Northern Delaware, in the greater Philadelphia area. We are about 30 minutes from downtown Philly. However, we have worked on many projects corresponding solely through email and phone, so it is not necessary to meet face to face.
